Description

The pre-op nurse should be proficient in inserting IV’s, administering pre-op medications, assisting with nerve blocks, prepping patients for the OR, and providing instruction to patients on patients’ rights and procedures. The post-op nurse should have appropriate skills in monitoring patients’ levels of recovery after anesthesia. He/she should also be proficient in administering medications to treat pain, nausea, high/low blood pressure, and other post-operative conditions. He/she should also be ACLS and BLS certified, proficient in providing/explaining patient discharge instructions, and assisting with physical therapy.
